ICT Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru says he will be traveling next week,turns down summons of senate committee

BY KORIR JUMA,NAIROBI,15TH FEB 2018-The communication senate committee has summoned ICT cabinet secretary Joe Mucheru to appear before it to explain why the Three  TV stations remained shut even after the high court directed that they be switched back on air.The CS who was to appear before the committee on Thursday did not honor the summon after claiming that he plans to travel outside  the country next week.

The committee however insists that the CS must appear before it on Monday before traveling.The CS is wanted by the committee to clarify why the state did not honor the courts order to restore the media transmissions making them to remain off air for over a week.

The three TV stations CITIZEN TV,NTV ,KTN NEWS and Inooro television were shut down on  January 30 for airing of swearing in of NASA leader Raila Odinga as people’s president.

The state did switch back on air NTV and KTN NEWS channels after four days off air while CITIZEN TV Remained shut as well as its sister stations Inooro which were restored after four more days.

The media house have claimed to have lost million of shillings in advertising revenue during the period.
