BY KORIR JUMA,NAIROBI,13TH FEB 2018-The national super alliance (NASA) co-principal and Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka will now take an oath as the Deputy People’s President on February 28 in Uhuru Park.
The move for Kalonzo to skip the swearing in ceremony of Raila Odinga as people’s president on January 30 at the same venue did not go down with many NASA supporters who have bee heaping pressure on Kalonzo to follow suit .Kalonzo seems to have thrown in the towel and decided to take to the podium owing to the ever mounting pressure.UPESINEWS.CO.KE also understands that NASA will use the event to unveil strategy aimed at ensuring a referendum is held to amend the Constitution and bring back the positions of Prime Minister and two deputies.
The positions were y under the Grand Coalition government in 2008-2013,and were occupied by Raila Odinga, Musalia Mudavadi and Uhuru Kenyatta respectively.
There has been a push from various civil society organizations among them the National council of churches of Kenya who have expressed need to create official positions under the constitution to reward the opposition leaders who lose in an election.
The groups feel that it is the only way the nation country solve the ever pressing issue of discrepancies politically.
It also called for the creation of the formal position of Leader of the Opposition to be held by the losing Presidential candidate.
Kalonzo was derided as a watermelon and a coward after he failed to take the oath with Raila Odinga on January 30.
