Chief Justice David Maraga unveils construction of a modern court building in Kakamega,warns contractors against complacency and laziness

BY CORRESPONDENT,KAKAMEGA,12TH FEB 2018-Chief justice David Maraga has officially laid a foundation stone on construction of a modern court building in Kakamega.

Speaking during the event Maraga  has warned contractors  handling the project against doing   substandard  job on the project  saying they will not be tolerated.”I want to urge the contractor who is handling this important project against doing contrary to expectations,this is tax payers money,it will cost KSh 368 million”.he said

.The modern building will house 9 magistrates offices,8 court rooms,Advocates rooms as well as breastfeeding mothers  who come to court on daily basis among others spacious rooms.Maraga has also asked Kakamega county governor Wycliff Oparanya who was at the event to also visit the project and check on the progress.

Maraga has also expressed concerns over increasing cases of rape in the region committed by minors most of them who are bellow 25 years of age.”It is sad that if you visit the prisons around those you find are young boys who are 21 years of age who are serving life imprisonment,it is unfortunate because these young people can not amount to anything important even after they are set free”.he said.

.Maraga also urged the county governor as well as other local leaders to carry out sensitization program to educate the community against the vice going forward.
