Court orders CAK to restore media transmission,asks govt not to interfere with media operations

BY KORIR JUMA,NAIROBI,1st JAN 2018-High court has ordered the communications Authority  to restore media transmission and Govt not to interfere with operations of media houses.

High court judge Chacha Mwita also set  Feb 14 2018 as the date when the case shall be heard.

The government switched off Citizen, Inooro TV which is a sister station to Citizen TV under Royal Media services ,NTV and KTN News after the media houses aired live transmission of NASA principal Raila Odinga  swearing in ceremony as the the peoples president on Tuesday.

The directive to shut down the media houses was issued by interior CS  Fred Matiangi who termed the ceremony as an illegal activity.

Addressing the press in Nairobi on Wednesday January 31,Matiangi however had stated that the  television stations will remain closed pending investigations that some of the media house were actively involved in illegal activities with possible collusion with the opposition.
