BY EURIDICE NZIOKA,NAIROBI,24TH JAN 2018-Mandera  county assembly has come out  to set the records straight concerning allegations taht it is one of the assemblies that have passed people’s assembly motion. The assembly dismissed claims that emanated from  AG Githu Muigai. They want the AG to retract the allegation failure to which they will take legal action.

Addressing the press  in Nairobi on Wednesday January 24, the MCAs led by county assembly speaker Mohammed Adan Khalif said the utterance by the AG was malicious and had caused anxiety among the members of the public.

“Our attention is particularly drawn to the allegations by the state law office that the Mandera county assembly had on December 9 passed a People’s Assembly motion, through an affidavit by Charles Mutinda on behalf of the Attorney General. The county assembly of Mandera, therefore, would like to refute the allegations made against us,” Mohammed said.

The speaker also noted that the allegations could hurt the reputation of the Economic Freedom Party EFP which is the majority in the County Assembly.

“The party has 28 members of county assembly in Mandera and five MPs and we support the government thus raises eyebrows why we would support an opposition motion,” he said.

Mandera West MP also called upon the President to consider the party in state appointment including Cabinet posts, principal secretary appointments and Director of state organizations.

The office of the AG filed had filed a petition seeking to stop 15 counties among them Mandera from enacting the assembly.
