KNH on the spotlight over rape of young mothers

BY NAMULONGO PETER,NAIROBI,19TH JAN 2018-Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH)  is under spotlight  after Mortuary attendants of the largest referral hospital in the country were accused of raping and young mothers who delivers at the facility.

Hell broke lose upon revelation of the ordeal by several  Mothers  who went on social media to brake their  silence.

 

Sources at the facility told WWW.UPESINEWS.CO.KE that  the attendants mostly target the vulnerable women; including those who delivered through c-sections and those who are nursing their young ones.The ordeal mostly take place in elevators with mothers having been asked to now keep off and have to climb the stairs.

To make the situation worse  morgue attendants also force those women  to stare at  corpses especially  mutilated ones and then go ahead and assault you.

Demand for justice

The revelation has elicited condemnation from Kenyans  especially online who want relevant authorities to come to the new mother’s aid. They also want KNH management to own  up the acts committed at the facility and ensure justice prevails .It  is reported that the management was aware of the acts and shy away from acting or even speaking about it.

Addressing the press KMPDU secretary general Ouma Oluga has asked those who have evidence and those who broke the news through social media to report to CID for proper action to be taken.The originator of the story must now come out,we hope that the government and the KNH management will help on this issue.said Oluga  during the fact finding mission.

Oluga also said they have not gotten any evidence of such happenings at the hospital.He spoke after having a meeting with KHN CEO liliy Koros.

On her side Koros through her assistant  has assured members of the public that the management will get to the core of the allegations and if touchable evidence is found,necessary legal action will be taken against  anybody found capable.

Koros who is a way on leave was expected to address the press latter on in the day on the issue.
