Cry for justice as family in Mombasa seeks speedy investigations into circumstances surrounding brutal murder of kin by guards

BY KORIR JUMA,NAIROBI,19TH JAN 2018-A family in Mombasa is  demanding justice  after their relative who is a banker by profession David Wokabi was hit on the head by blunt object leading to his death by guards in Nyali.

Friends,family and colleagues held  peaceful demonstrations on Friday in Mombasa asking for justice. They held a procession from the Aga Khan Hospital mortuary to Nyali Centre where they demanded for speedy investigations and prosecution of five night guards.

They have also issued a two-day ultimatum to the Nyali Centre management to kick out  guards from the private security firm Solvit whose officers are blamed for the murder .

A woman rushed Wokabi, 34, to Jocham Hospital where his wounds were dressed.

Family spokesman John Njoroge who spoke to the press has  urged the government to intervene to ensure those responsible for the murder of David Wokabi are prosecuted.

Wokabi was beaten after he allegedly relieved himself at the centre and succumbed to multiple head and neck injuries while undergoing treatment at Aga Khan Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.

Wokabi, an employee of Stanbic Bank, Nyali branch, died a week later while undergoing treatment at the hospital.

He was attacked at around 3am on January 7 by the security guards who were manning the centre.
