Academician Professor Calestous Juma laid to rest in Busia

BY CORRESPONDENT,BUSIA,6TH JAN,2018-The national super Alliance leaders on Saturday January 6 joined family and friends as well as other mourners for the burial of the late professor Caletous Juma in Budalangi Busia County.Led by NASA principals Raila Odinga,Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula,they both eulogized professor Juma as a man who made the name of Kenya to shine both abroad and in the African continent.
Odinga narrated how the late Juma helped mold his life both socially and academically when he interacted with him at various levels.”Juma was a straight forward man,whenever i interacted with him he always had something positive to impact”.said Odinga.
On his side Bungoma senator Moses Wetangula wondered why people like Juma have not been recognized in Kenya despite their enormous contribution .”As we bury professor, we look at our county why are respected people like prof not acknowledged like they should in their motherland,in this country we have a culture of celebrating mediocrity instead of achievement.” said wetangula.same sentiments were shared by Amani national congress leader ANC Musalia Mudavadi who accused Jubilee government of neglecting men and women in Kenya who have made impact in Kenya.
Swearing in of Odinga
Politics did not escape with opposition members of parliament insisting that NASA principal Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka will be sworn in as planned.Busia women representative Florence Mutua said they were ready to swear in Odinga as people;s president.”Tuko tayari hata leo kumwapisha mweshimiwa Odinga na Kalonzo washike usukani”.she said.(we are ready to sware in Odinga and Kalonzo to take over leadership of the country.According to Mutua the instruments of power are not important what matters was that Odinga was sworn in to lead kenyans who vote for him.”It doesn’t matter if he will reside in Busia or Nairobi the most important part is for him to take his rightful position”.she added.
On his part George Khaniri has urged for inclusion of environment cabinet secretary Judy Wakhungu in the list of cabinet secretaries as well as her counter part Amina Muhamed who were also present at the burial.President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday named a part of his cabinet unveiling nine names and promising to name others in the near future.
