BY JOHN WERU,NAIROBI,24TH DEC 2017-President Uhuru Kenyatta has called upon Kenyans to unite and forgive each other as it was the best thing to do in this season of Christmas and also it symbolizes the ‘heart of being Kenyan.”
In his Christmas message to the nation on Sunday , President Kenyatta asked Kenyans to be each other’s keeper.
“This is not the time to look back, this is not the time to nurse the grudges of the past,” President Kenyatta said.
“This is the time to forgive, and to look forward to the renewal that God promises in the birth of this child,” he added.
The president has also urged Kenyans to look at the year 2017 which has seen cut throat competition a move that has left the country divided saying things could have been much better had the nation pulled together. ”We ought to take that lesson to heart. In this year of political competition, we hold fast to the truth that difference need not mean division”. ”We hold to the truth that we can do far more together than we can apart”.he said.
He also called upon drivers to be more careful and responsible during the festive season amid growing number of road accidents that has so far claimed over 200 lives since beginning of December.
“I ask you again, especially drivers, to take care of yourselves, and your fellow countrymen and women, in all your journeys this festive season,” said the head of state.
The president also took time to wish all a merry Christmas and happy new year.
