A Migori family thrown into mourning after daughter commits suicide for scoring C- in KCSE exams

BY CORRESPONDENT,MIGORI 21ST DEC 2017-A family in Migori county has been thrown into mourning after their daughter who sat for this year’s Kenya certificate of Secondary  school (KCSE) exams committed suicide after failing to get the grade she desired.Carren Ouma had hoped to score  a C+ but instead she managed to get a C- in the exam whose results were released on Wednesday by Education cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi.WWW.UPESINEWS.CO.KE has established that the student sat the exam last year 2016and scored a C minus at Osingo Secondary in Migori County.However she was not satisfied and decided to  re-seat the exam in 2017 hoping to get a C+ or even a better grade.

This motivation prompted her to change from her former school switching  to Osingo Secondary in Kuria.To her surprise and disappointment when Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i released the results on Wednesday she found out that she had scored C-.after senting  SMSes and logging  on to Kenya National Examinations Council website just to know how she had performed.


This reality hit her hard knowing that all efforts she had put in to realize a better grade did not succeed and  she  maintained her C minus grade.

The local chief  Mwai Odila who confirmed says Carren died after jumping into a well located in their homestead on Wednesday night.

“She first sat her exams at Osingo Secondary before moving to a school in Kuria and still ended up getting the same grade,” he said.

Her body  has been taken to Migori County Referral Hospital mortuary.
