BY CORRESPONDENT,MACHAKOS,17TH DEC 2017-Uganda has managed to finish in  position  three in this year’s  CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup after beating their rivals and neighbours Burundi 2 -1 at Kenyatta Stadium Machakos, December 17.

Saddam Juma Inbrahim scored  to  equalize  for Uganda in the 48th minute after Burundi captain Pierre Kwizera had put his side ahead in the initial half. Uganda largely dominated the proceedings but were unfortunate on a number of occasions to unlock the Burundi’s resilient back line.

Tom Masiko was denied by Burundi defender Tresor Ndikumana who made a quick intervention to stop the Ugandan from shooting from inside the box. Benjamin Ochan saved his team mates from blushes when he made a quick recovery to save the ball from going into the net when his defenders failed to clear a Burundi corner.

Nahimana Jonathan would have blamed himself should Uganda had scored in the 55th minute when he left his goal area and failed to clear the ball that was snatched by Muleme Isaac but the later’s shot went narrowly past the goal mouth.

Issa Dau put Uganda ahead in the 75th minute from a free kick after Saddam Juma was brought down just outside the area.

Nahimana remained rooted on his spot as the ball made its way over static wall into the left bottom corner of his net.
