BY JOHN WERU,NAIROBI,11TH DEC 2017-Kenya women consultative forum has urged the government to ensure that it calls for a national dialogue in order to bring about reconciliation in the country after divisive 2017 elections.
Kenya women consultative forum through executive secretary of Creco Regina Opondo says women need to be included in such a dialogue since they were majorly affected in the skirmishes. .”Women were most affected in the violence that rocked various areas such as Kibra,Mathare ,Kawangware and Kondele in Kisumu ,therefore it is only prudence that women are at the center of such dialogue”.she said.
Addressing the press the press on Monday in Nairobi,Opondo also urged the office of the director of public prosecution,the police and the national cohesion and integration commission (NCIC) to ensure that the perpetrators of the human rights abuses during the elections have been brought to book.
They have further urged the executive to respect the separation of powers and the independence of the three arms of government to ensure accountability and effective checks and balances.
