BY JOHN WERU,NAIROBI,8TH DEC 2017-Opposition leader Raila Odinga on Friday met foreign envoys at his capital hill office in Nairobi where he has maintained that the will of the people was important.The envoys included US ambassador Robert Godec.
On Thursday angry Odinga condemned the united states for its position that his planned swearing in On Tuesday next week should be shelved and instead dialogue be given a chance. Raila said that Kenyans can solve their own problems so the US should not interfere by asking him to abide by the constitution.
US ambassador Robert Godec, said Kenya must strive to uphold the constitution at all times.
“I stress the need to uphold the constitution. We urge the government, Opposition and all Kenyans to engage in open, transparent national conversation.”
He added that the underlying issues can only be adequately addressed if the rule of law was adhered to as well as strengthen institutions.
