BY KORIR JUMA,NAIROBI,7TH DEC 2017-The process of filling slots of members to the East African legislative assembly EALA seems to be right on course after parliament made headway on Thursday.
The Joint Parliamentary Select committee on the election of Members of the East African Legislative Assembly approved 25 candidates 14 of whom are from Jubilee and 11 from the National Super Alliance NASA as candidates for the polls to be held on December 13.
The party with the majority get more seats ,which means that Jubilee will get 5 slots while NASA will get 4.Kenya has delayed in electing its members and forwarding their names to the EALA in Arusha Tanzania.Kenya was suppose to have already presented its members as early as May this year but tussle concerning electing members has not been easy.
There has been differences pitting the two major political divide NASA and Jubilee that has led to delays while Jubilee settled on the list of its Members way before NASA ,the opposition has questioned the legitimacy of current parliament which they say is not well constituted.
