Harambee stars kick off CECAFA campaign on positive note,after overpowering Rwanda’s Amavubi

BY SAMSON MBII,NAIROBI,3RD DEC 2017-The national football team Harambee Stars started  their Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup 2017 campaign on higher note beating Rwanda’s Amavubi  2-0  on the first game  of the tournament  played on Sunday.

Stars will have   Masoud Juma who scored the opener on the  26th minute while Duncan Otieno making it two few minutes later.

On the other hand things were not rosy for Rwanda whose tribulations were made even more difficult after one of their player   Kayumba Soter was  red carded leaving only ten players to defend the course of their justice.

Substitute Kepha Aswani should have made it 3-0 after being teed clear on goal but came out second best from the one-on-one with the goalkeeper.

Kenya dominated the opening proceedings and went ahead courtesy of Juma who rose to take the penalty responsibilities after Samuel Onyango had been fouled inside the area.

Stars  motivated by home advantage  continued soaring even  higher  but were  ball poor ball control as rain began to fall.

Rains continued pounding the field making it difficult for the fans who had turned up  in large numbers  to continue enjoying the match.

As time went by it was proofing hard for stars  to add to their numbers of goals and until the last whistle Amavubi had not scored even a single goal giving stars its first win even as the CECAFA 2017 tournament shapes up.

Stars have guests Libya next in line at the Kenyatta Stadium Machakos on Tuesday in their second group B match.
