BY KORIR JUMA,1ST DEC 2017-Liverpool have reportedly informed Barcelona that they will accept a bid of £127m for midfielder Philippe Coutinho.
Reputable Spanish news outlet Mundo Deportivo has claimed that the two clubs have agreed on the fee after months of ‘secret talks’ which look to have finally broken the deadlock over the Brazilian’s potential move to Camp Nou.
Coutinho made headlines last summer after handing in a formal transfer request to force through a move to the Spanish giants. The 25-year-old was however dealt a huge blow after negotiations between broke down when the clubs failed to agree on a transfer fee, with the Catalans thereafter sparking controversy after accusing the Reds of demanding an absurd £177m (€200m) for the talisman.
It is believed that the emergence of winger Mohamed Salah has softened the English side’s stance on letting the playmaker leave – a development which now paves the way for Coutinho to ultimately succeed veteran midfield maestro Andres Iniesta in boss Ernesto Valverde’s star studded squad.
