Kenya joins the world in Marking world aids day

BY JOHN WERU,NAIROBI,1ST DEC 2017-Kenya has joined the rest of the world in marking world Aids day marked each year on December 1st.

This year’s  theme in Kenya is preventing HIV infection and avoiding stigma.A total of four counties are most affected with statistics revealing that the said counties have higher numbers of the infected  compared to others counties.

According to the report from the National Aids Control council (NACC) says that Nairobi,Migori,Siaya and Kisumu are among counties mostly hit by the HIV infection burden.

NACC statistic also indicate that  approximately  97 youths get infected every day in the country.

The international Aids day was marked in  various counties including Nairobi and Kisumu  where free HIV testing and counseling was conducted  with the infected been introduced to drugs and also given important information on how and where to get treatment.

There are 19.5 million people who are infected and are on life saving plan of  world wide are on life saving anti-retrial-viral drugs.In Kenya the National HIV prevalence stands at 5.9 percent.Other counties who marked the day are Embu,Makueni,Kitui.kakamega,Mombasa Among others.
