Tension remains high in Muhoroni in Kisumu county after cattle rustlers raid a village killing two people

BY CORRESPONDENT,KISUMU,29TH NOV 2017-Two people have died   in Ochora village in Muhoroni constituency in Kisumu county  after  cattle rustlers raided the village  along  Kisumu-Kericho border on Tuesday night .

WWW.UPESINEWS.CO.KE  has established  that tension  is still high in the area  after a man believed to be  in his early 20s  was killed while they pursued the rustlers who were driving away nine goats while a 45-year-old man who sustained injuries  died while receiving  treatment.

Kisumu Governor Prof Anyang Nyong’o  has appealed to the locals living along the border to maintain peace in the wake of attacks.The governor says it is getting difficult to minimize the cross border conflict.

Addressing the press  Nyong’o says the trend is cultural and will not prove easy to curtail such criminal acts along the border.

He says he will be reaching out to his Kericho County counterpart Julius Chepkwony to discuss the matter.”I look forward to having a discussion with kericho county leadership to find a lasting solution”.he said.

The governor  further  announced that they will push for the setting up of Anti-Stock Theft Units along the border to respond to alarm being raised by the residents in case of cattle theft.

He said they had resolved to improve infrastructure along the border as a way of ending the conflict noting that the commitment still stand.
