High court in Mombasa hears a petition challenging governor Ali Hassan Joho’s victory

BY CORRESPONDENT,MOMBASA,27TH NOV 2017-Mombasa high court on Monday begun hearing a petition challenging governor Hassan Joho ‘s victory in an election held on August 8.
The petitioner Omar Hassan who was cross examined before lady justice Lidya Achode raised several issues which he thinks forms a strong grounds on why governor Joho’s victory should be nullified.
He told the court packed with both his supporters and those of Governor Joho that there was numerous irregularities ranging from claims of voters intimidation and a misconception that Joho was a favorable contender.
It awaits to be seen whether the people of Mombasa will be going back to the policing stations to vote again should the court direct that Omar has a strong case warranting nullification of governor Joho’s Victory.On the other hand if Omar’s petition is dismissed governor Joho will continue with his term in office.
