BY SAMSON MBII,NAIROBI ,17TH NOV 2017-Azam TV, will be the official tournament broadcasters for this year’s CECAFA Senior Challenge which set to be held in Kenya from Sunday 3 – Sunday 17 December, the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has confirmed through its official portal. The television services provider normally has a rich presence in Tanzania, Uganda and Rwanda where it broadcasts the Premier league matches in the east African countries.
This is sweet news for local football fans who have for some time now missed action through television since South African Pay TV broadcasters supersports having beamed live the last edition held in Ethiopia in December 2015 which was won by record winners of the competition, Uganda.
The 2017 pooling is already out, and Kenya gets a chance to make up for their loss to Rwanda in 2015 when the two teams face off in this year’s opener. Guest team Libya, Tanzania and Zanzibar complete Group A. The second guest team for this year’s edition, Zimbabwe falls into Group B, alongside defending champions Uganda, Burundi, South Sudan and Ethiopia.
With Kakamega Town’s Bukhungu Stadium well on its way to completion, football lovers from the town alongside their counterparts from Kisumu and Nakuru are assured of international action as the tournament completely goes out of the capital Nairobi this year. The Machakos County Stadium and Mumias Sports Complex have been lined up as alternative grounds should bad weather hinder any match.
