BY CORRESPONDENT,SIAYA,14TH NOV 2017-Irate bodaboda operators on Monday Morning descended on a police officer based at Kogelo Police Station in Barkowino area in Siaya County beating him to death.According to eye witnesses the officer was forcefully ejected from a Public Service Vehicle by the angry youths who accused him of protecting a suspect.
WWW.UPESINEWS.CO.KE has established that the officer had earlier been seen with the suspect, identified as Caleb Omoro, who the boda-boda operators wanted to lynch for allegedly stealing a motorbike from one of their colleagues around June this year.
It is reported that the police officer together with his colleague was tracking another burglary suspect, who was Omoro’s accomplice but the youths did not have this information.
In a police report detailing the chronology of events the officer was on an assignment to nab the other suspect. “He had come to Bondo in company of PC Rodgers Nalianya of Kogelo Police Station and later joined PC Kimutai Ngeno of Bondo Police Station to arrest an accomplice in his case of burglary and stealing before Siaya Law Courts coming up for hearing on November 14, 2017,” reads the police report.
“The said vehicle whose registration number is not known left him where he was subjected to mob injustice. Police officers rushed to the scene upon receiving information from a member of public and rushed him to Bondo County Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.” it added.
