BY KORIR JUMA,CORRESPONDENTS,26TH OCT 2017-Voting has kicked off in various parts of the country even as areas seen as opposition stronghold record little or no activity at all.

Spot check done by WWW.UPESINEWS.CO.KE in various parts of the country indicate that immediately after opening of poling stations as from  6am  areas such as Nyanza,Western,Mombasa were recording very few voters getting to polling stations.

Things are however slightly different in regions of Rift valley,Kiambu and some areas of North eastern which have recorded slightly higher figures of voters as compared to opposition perceived areas.

Voting underway at Makutano pri in Kapenguria. Voting ongoing in most polling centers in West Pokot county despite low turnout-COURTESY

In the meantime security remains tight in various parts of the country and especially in poling stations with police manning the centers as voting goes on.An ugly incident has been spotted in Migori with demonstrators having barricaded most roads leading to Migori town. This has made it difficult for voting to begin since as late as 7am most poling centers were yet to record any voting related activity. In Busia the same scenario has been witnessed  with most poling stations recording between 400 and 300 voters .We wait to see if the situation will improve as time goes by.
