BY EURIDICE NZIOKA,NAIROBI,26TH OCT 2017-Polling stations which opened late will be compensated for the time lost as voters cast their ballot in the repeat presidential poll. The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has said.

Through its Twitter handle, the electoral body indicated that this will cater for areas where voting delayed due to logistical challenges.

IEBC says in most polling stations, voting kicked off in earnest at 6am and according to the electoral body, everything has been put in place to ensure the exercise runs smoothly.

IEBC Chairperson Wafula Chebukati  who spoke to the press on Wednesday at the National tallying center at the Bomas assured that the fresh presidential election would proceed as planned. In areas perceived as opposition strong hold however there has been little or no activity at all with IEBC returning officers having to wait for long hours before receiving a single voter.
