BY KORIR JUMA,CORRESPONDENT,23RD OCT 2017-NASA leader Raila Odinga on Monday took the NO elections call to Kisii county where he claimed that Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) chief executive officer Ezra Chiloba was is still in office despite saying he will be on leave during the election.
Speaking at a rally in Keroka, Raila asserted that Chiloba had reported to office on Monday morning and was still performing his electoral commission duties.
The opposition leader also maintained that there would be no election on October 26 as the “irreducible minimum” conditions that the National Super Alliance coalition has been demanding have not been met by IEBC.
Chiloba had last week said decided to go on a three-week official leave. The Commission’s Chair Wafula Chebukati had announced that the commission had taken radical steps to ensure that the repeat poll slated for Thursday will be free and fair.
Among the conditions set by Chebukati was for some IEBC staff to step aside so as for the electoral commission to guarantee a free, fair and credible election.
NASA leaders have insisted that they will not take part in the repeat poll since the commission did not take any step in implementing the list of irreducible minimum they provided as a way of ensuring free and fair poll.
