BY NAMULONGO PETER,NAIROBI,18TH OCT 2017-IEBC commissioner Roselyn Akombe has resigned just a week to the repeat presidential elections.

In a statement she sent from the US  Dr Akombe mentions several  pertinent issues that led to her decision one of them being dubious manner in which the preparations for the upcoming elections  are being undertaken.

She says  the repeat election as planned cannot meet the basic expectations of a credible election.

“The commission in its current state can surely not guarantee a credible election on October 26. I do no want to be party to such a mockery to electoral integrity,” she said.

She also says she was fearing for her life considering several threats to her life she has received.Speaking from the US where she has taken refuge , Dr Akombe  said IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati is under siege

In her statement she said it is unacceptable for any party to disrupt, attack IEBC staff; says acts must be condemned and action taken against perpetrators.
