BY CORRESPONDENT,TURKANA,14TH OCT 2017-Six students are among seven people who died early Saturday after attackers Suspected to be from Sudan attacked Lokichogio Mixed Secondary School in Turkana County.
A night guard was also shot dead in the 3.30am incident. According to the Turkana County Commissioner Seif Matata one of the attackers is a student at the school who was serving his suspension after a series of indiscipline cases. WWW.UPESINEWS.CO.KE has established that the said student is from the Toposa tribe of South Sudan.Those killed include four boys and two girls.
“The preliminary information we have is that this attack was carried out by a student of the school in the company of other unknown people,” he said.
“There was a student who comes from South Sudan and he was suspended from school because of indiscipline.
18 more people were injured.
“Several students were injured. We cannot confirm the number until we liaise with the hospital,” Mr Matata told journalists in Lodwar town before leaving for the school, which is about 200 kilometres from the Kenya-South Sudan border.Kenya Red Cross is attending to the several who were injured as well as police officer at the scene.
Kenya red cross also says Plans are underway to airlift the critically injured to other hospitals away from the scene.
