BY JOHN WERU,NAIROBI,11TH OCT 2017-The High Court on Wednesday 11th Oct granted activist Okiya Omtatah temporary orders barring IEBC from declaring Uhuru Kenyatta the president-elect.
The commission has been barred from making such a declaration until the petition is heard and determined.Omtatah’s decision to move to court Follows the withdrawal of NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga from the repeat election slated for October 26.
Before then it was only Uhuru Kenyatta who was remaining .It could have been easy for IEBC to go to court and obtain an order to be able to declare Uhuru president and subsequently cancel the repeat poll..
This comes hours after the court allowed Ekuru Aukot to contest in the repeat election On Tuesday, the NASA candidate withdrew from the race and demanded that IEBC calls a fresh election.
