BY KORIR JUMA,NAIROBI,10TH OCT 2017-The National Super Alliance NASA withdrawals the candidature on Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Msuyoka from the repeat elections slated for Oct 26.Says IEBC has not been willing to embrace changes proposed by NASA before the repeat election is held .
Addressing the press on Tuesday 10th Oct at the Okao Kenya offices in Nairobi,NASA principals led by Raila Odinga says their proposed amendments have been ignored. In a statement read by Odinga NASA says going by the current situation it was clear that the repeat polls slated for October 26 will still be rigged and they were not willing to take part in yet another shambolic election.
Odinga has also said the European union gave its directive on the matter which was also ignored.’’It is clear that IEBC is not ready to make changes we have proposed because they are not ready for a free and fair exercise’’.he said.
On his part Co principal Moses Wetangula said in as much as their was evidence of interference with technology on election date of August 8 nothing has been done to fix it.
NASA has also accused the electoral commission of not having intention to streamline the electoral systems to have a credible elections.According NASA CO-principal Musalia Mudavadi the supreme court ruled that there was anomalies in every step of the exercise and yet despite sincere concerns raised nothing has been done.On his side Running mate Kalonzo Msuyoka noted that if all demands raised by NASA would have been implemented there could not have had any problem.
NASA has also blamed the Jubilee government for withdrawing security details attached to NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga and his running mate was ill intended as it could have resulted to cancellation of they election if any candidate died.”They know very well that if any thing like death happen to any candidate the election will be canceled ”.said Mudavadi. According to Mudavadi the move was to ensure that NASA candidates do not campaign as they had no security.
NASA has now written to the IEBC chair Wafula Chebukati asking him to start the process of nomination of candidates a fresh in accordance to the law.They plan to field another candidate for the same.
Nasa has also announced that its planned demonstrations will be carried out countrywide as planned to push for fresh election devoid of any anomalies.The planned demonstrations is still on cause,we meet tomorrow Wednesday 11th Oct at Uhuru park.Said Siaya senator James Orengo.
