The Retail Trade Association of Kenya condemns attack on Tumaini super market in Kisumu

BY KORIR JUMA,NAIROBI,7TH OCT 2017-The Retail Trade Association of Kenya (RETRAK) has condemned  in the strongest terms possible the looting and destruction witnessed  on Friday 6TH Oct , by an unidentified mob at Tumaini Supermarkets, Kisumu town Branch.

In a statement send to the press on Saturday  7th Oct and signed by the chair Muchiri Wahome ,the  Association is concerned at the increasing frequency and threats that continue to face formal and informal retail sector players; effectively undermining the National Economic development ideals.

The association has urged all  security machinery to consider beefing up security for the players in the retail sector during this electoral season. ”We also call upon the political players across the divide to urge their supporters to maintain law and order at all times”.said the statement in part.

It has further  commended  the Kisumu County Commander for the swift response in aid of Tumaini Supermarket .

It also  conveyed  its  message of empathy to the Tumaini Supermarket Chairman, Mr. Elijah Okello and his management team.
