Anti-IEBC demos resumes across the country

BY NAMULONGO PETER,CORRESPONDENTS,6TH OCT 2017-The National Super Alliance NASA supporters on Friday 6TH Oct, resumed their demonstrations to push for reforms at the electoral commission ahead of the repeat presidential poll slated for October 26.Protest have been witnessed in Nairobi ,Mombasa,Kisumu Kakamega among other places.In Kisumu, transport was paralysed on Kisumu-Kakamega highway after hundreds of youths barricaded the road at Kondele.

In Nairobi  police had to prevent the demonstrators from storming into the IEBC offices at the Anniversary towers.Police have had hard time controlling the crowds of Supporters  who  have  been hard shouting Chiloba must go.

However things turned ugly when demonstrators descended   on   several businesses   leaving a trail of destruction.Among those affected are  Tumaini supermarket  within Kisumu CBD  as well as destroying  water lines in the city WWW.UPESINEWS.CO.KE has established that demonstrators also looted properties in affected business premises.

The demonstrations have been called by NASA leaders led by presidential candidate Raila Odinga  who has since demanded that  complete overhaul of  IEBC  before a fresh election is held.NASA wants IEBC  chief Excutive Officer Ezra Chiloba and head of ICT James Muhati to resign.The two are accused of having a hand in the bungled elections held on August 8.

The opposition also demands that France based Safran morpho  firm which supplied the Kenya Integrated elections management systems KIEMS  and the Ballot papers printing firm AL Ghurair from Dubai be replaced so as to guarantee transparency and fairness in the elections.
