BY NAMULONGO PETER,LIMURU,4TH OCT 2017-The National Council of Churches of Kenya is calling upon the two main political faction of NASA and Jubilee to put aside their sideshows and concentrate on the October 26 repeat poll.
Addressing the press in Limuru on Wednesday 4th Oct,the council led by Secretary general Canon Peter Karanja says time is far much spend with only three weeks to the poll the two political side must now embark on mobilizing their supporters for the sake of the elections.”We urge NASA and Jubilee to now focus on the bid event which is the election”.said Karanja.NCCK also wants Jubilee to suspend its fronted electoral laws amendments currently ongoing in parliament until the election is held.
According to Karanja all NASA and Jubilee should have faith in the stand taken and position held by the independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission IEBC chair Wafula Chebukati that the commission is prepared to hold a free and fair election.Should there be issues the same will be dealt with at a later date as per the constitution.
The National Super Alliance has also been asked to move away from its hardstands and be willing to embrace what is good for the country.NASA has been demanding that unless changes are implemented at the IEBC they will not take part in the repeat poll.
They insists that IEBC C.EO Ezra Chiloba alongside head of ICT James Muhati to step aside and all other officials responsible for bungling the August 8 elections sacked and prosecuted.
NASA also wants France based firm responsible for supplying integrated elections systems KIEMS Saphran Morpho and the Ballot printing firm A L Ghurair form Dubai replaced before a repeat poll can be held.
