We will not take part repeat poll unless our demands are met insists NASA,as Jubilee says it is ready

BY NAMULONGO PETER,NAIROBI,3RD OCT 2017-The National super Alliance NASA insist that it will not take part in the repeat presidential elections slated for October26.

Addressing the press at the Bomas of Kenya Tuesday 3RD OCT,Orengo confirmed that  NASA four principals Raila Odinga,Kalonzo Musyoka,Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula had met with the IEBC chair Wafula Chebukati and vice chair Consolata Nkatha to discuss and reach an agreement  ahead of pending issues before the poll.

However he  stated  that non of the issues raised in their list of reducing minimums had not be dealt with.

This is contrary to the statement from IEBC chair Wafula Chebukati who say most of the demands raised by NASA had been dealt with.

Orengo who is also Siaya senator says  they will no be intimidated and that their weekly demonstrations aimed at bringing change at the electoral commission. ”NASA won’t be blackmailed into backing out of its weekly demonstrations.”said Orengo .

The lawyer also  reacted  to diplomats’ statement asking leaders and citizens to reject violence after one person died in Siaya during the Opposition’s protests against IEBC.

They said: “Kenyan leaders should publicly reject violence and ensure their supporters do the same. Some Kenyans are stoking community tensions and it must stop.”

“We are not going to be blackmailed. We are not very enthusiastic about going to the united States of America. The diplomats have overstepped its mandate, our sovereignty cannot be surrendered to anyone,” he said.

“We are taken aback by utterances by the diplomatic community. They too have issues from their mother countries to deal with. America also has its own problems.”

Later on Deputy president William Ruto who represented the Jubilee side in the talks said Jubilee was ready for the repeat poll.The deputy president who was accompanied by leader of majority in the National Assembly Aden Duale and other Jubilee leaders says they were confidence that IEBC will conduct a free a and  fair elections.”As Jubilee we have no minimum conditions or irreducible  demands.” he said

Ruto has also revealed taht Jubilee will in a weeks time present to IEBC a list of their agents to serve during the elections.

On changes being implemented on the electoral laws by Jubilee members of parliament,Ruto said NASA had other mechanism to engage parliament and still have their way.
