Take full responsibility for the country’s loss of opportunity to host CHAN,Odinga tells govt

BY SAMSON MBII,NAIROBI,25TH SEPT 2017-NASA leader  and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has told the government to take full responsibility for  Kenya’s loss of the CHAN hosting rights.

Addressing the press  in South B estate in Nairobi on Monday  when he visited ailing football legend Joe Kadenge, Odinga noted that the government deliberately delayed  putting in place necessary arrangements   including ensuring that stadiums were ready  despite  CAF having  communicated on timelines.

“In 2013, the Jubilee government, in their manifesto, promised five new stadia yet nothing has become of it. This is a big shame bearing in mind that countries like Burkina Fasso and Rwanda have better pitches compared to Kenya,” Odinga said, adding, “It is clear that Chan will be now hosted by Morocco .The government, it seems, never studied their own manifesto.”

Odinga at the same time pledged that should he rise to the presidency, his government will ensure that the ailing Kadenge assumes ownership of the house he currently lives in.

Odinga also  absolved Football Kenya Federation from blame noting that had stadia been built on time, the CHAN rights could not have been lost.

CAF on Sunday stripped Kenya of the hosting rights it had awarded her three years ago citing unpreparedness and tense political atmosphere.

Caf’s decision has been meet with fury by the football stakeholders with many calling on Sports Cabinet Secretary Hassan Wario to resign.

But FKF president Nick Mwendwa and Sports PS  Peter Kaberia who earlier Addressed the press said political temperatures and unpredictability of the situation in the country   were to blame .
