BY NAMULONGO PETER,NAIROBI,23RD SEPT 2017-The Director of Public Prosecutions Keriako Tobiko has ordered directorate of Criminal Investigations and the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission to investigate persons who committed electoral malpractices in the August 8 elections.
In a statement on Saturday, Tobiko asked the DCI boss Ndegwa Muhoro and EACC chief executive officer Halakhe Waqo to ensure that the joint investigations are carried out completed within 21 days.
To facilitate the probe, he said:
“I have designated a team of senior prosecutors to provide technical guidance and assistance to the investigation teams.”
Those in the soup include IEBC chief executive officer Ezra Chiloba and 11 other officials, Nasa members Musalia Mudavadi and Siaya Senator James Orengo.
Earlier in the day Jubilee Party secretary general Raphael Tuju told a press conference that the two had access to information obtained illegally from the IEBC servers.
The move is likely to stir yet another battle in the two camps of NASA and Jubilee who have both accused each other of having interfere with the election which was nulified by the supreme court on September 1st for allegedly having witnessed numerous anomalies.
