BY CORRESPONDENT,HOMABAY,23RD SEPT 2017-The incidents of school inferno continue to sweep various parts of the country leaving a trail of destruction. The latest incident has been reported at a boys high school in Kasipul Kabondo constituency Homa Bay county.The incident occurred Friday afternoon at the Wanga Apala secondary school noon while students were in class taking their Friday afternoon lessons.
According to the county education officials who talked to UPESINEWS.CO.KE no student was injured with property of unknown value going up in smoke.
The school administration is now appealing to the county government and well wishers to intervene and assist in rebuilding the damaged dormitory and also provide shelter for affected students.
Elsewhere several classrooms went up in smoke Friday night after fire broke out at Tenwek high school in Bomet County.The school management is yet to know what caused the inferno as investigation continues.
Nine students of Moi Girls School in Nairobi died in a fire at one of their dormitories on the night of September 2.
Education CS Fred Matiang’i said this was an arson and that the culprits will be found and punished.
The parents of a student linked to the tragedy said she was framed.
Other incidents have also been reported in other schools including Migori Boys Secondary School and Nyabondo Boys’ Primary School in Nyakach, Kisumu county.
