BY KORIR JUMA,NAIROBI,17TH SEPT 2017-The opposition National Super Alliance (NASA) on Sunday took their campaign to Jacaranda grounds in Dandora area of Nairobi where they affirmed that they will not take part in a repeat election slated for October 17 unless IEBC meets their minimum irreducible conditions.
NASA principals led by Raila Odinga wants French biometric system supplier, Safran Morpho, stopped from supplying the Independent Electoral ad Boundaries Commission (IEBC) with voter identification and results transmission technology in the fresh Presidential Election.”Unless our irreducible minimum reform demands are met by the IEBC, we shall not have a repeat presidential election, affirmed Odinga.
Odinga has also added that as a coalition they had tried to engage the IEBC with a view to having their grave and valid concerns addressed with no avail.
They also wants the ballot papers printing firm AL Ghurair from Dubai not contracted to print the ballot papers for fresh elections.
NASA leaders, who were speaking on Saturday, September 16 during an rally in Bungoma, say that the company’s KIEMS kits were used in manipulating the bungled August 8 Presidential results outcome and therefore cannot be trusted to run another election.
On his side NASA’s principal Kalonzo Musyoka has blamed the international observers saying they showed a great level of hypocrisy during the August 8 poll for giving a bungled exercise a clean bill only to be nullified. He added that in the coming round of election such team need to be critically examined before being invited into the country.
Despite the firm on Saturday, September 16 assuring that its systems were not hacked to compromise the presidential results transmission, NASA leaders have now termed the audit a total hogwash insisting that the company cannot conduct a self audit yet it refused to open its servers for scrutiny as directed by the Supreme Court.
