BY JOHN WERU,NAIROBI,17TH SEPT 2017-Deputy president William Ruto has told the opposition to keep their threats and intimidation to themselves affirming that Kenyans will elect president Kenyatta and himself again on 17th of October.
Addressing residents of Mwiki ,kasarani in Nairobi on Sunday Ruto said no amount of intimidation will prevent Kenyans from making their wise decision in election.”With a past of coups, violence & bloodshed no politician should unconstitutionally deny other kenyans their Constitutional right to vote”.he said.
Ruto who was accompanied by Nairobi governor Mike mbuvi Sonko ,senator Johnstone Sakaja among other Jubilee leaders also accused the opposition of intimidating the independent Electoral and boundaries Commission IEBC saying that every commissioner was a Kenyan who is guaranteed protection under the constitution. ”Every kenyan, those at IEBC included have the protection of the Constitution. Nobody, however mighty ,should threaten them in any way or form”.he added.
On his side governor Sonko has asked the residents to ensure that they vote for president Kenyatta and his deputy adding that it was the only way he as the governor will serve them better being a jubilee governor.
His sentiments were echoed by Senator Johnstone Sakaja who said that Kenyans will elect their leaders if even the opposition made its threat real and boycotted the poll.
