Peace meeting in Kisumu fails to kick off as youth engage police in running battles

BY CORRESPONDENT,KISUMU,13TH SEPT 2017-A meeting that was organized by  a group of women  from Nyanza region on Wednesday to discuss what is said to be measures that will unsure peace prevails in the region  before and after the second round of elections slated for October 17th has failed to kick off.

UPESINEWS.CO.KE has authoritatively established that  a group of youth stormed the Jumuia hotel which was to be the venue and stopped  it.The angry youth who threatened to set the hotel a blaze claim the meeting had been convened with a sole purpose of buying votes and national identity cards from the locals in order to deny the opposition candidate Raila Odinga  votes.

Police were forced to  fire in the air to disperse the irate youths who lite borne fires and barricaded roads leading to the Hotel which is owned by the National council of churches of Kenya NCCK.

Nyanza has been unstable since the August 8 elections having witnessed demonstrations emanating from the results of presidential elections which are under dispute.
