Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria and Johnstone Muthama arrested over alleged hate speech

BY NAMULONGO PETER,NAIROBI,11TH SEPT 2017-Gatundu South Member of parliament  Moses Kuria has been arrested.Kuria was arrested in the Nairobi CBD on Monday.He is alleged to have uttered hateful words a few days ago.Kuria is being held at the Directorate of criminal investigation headquarters on Kiambu road Nairobi for questioning.

Also arrested  is former Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama.Muthama was arrested in Kangundo and  until the time UPESINEWS.CO.KE went on press he was still being brought to Nairobi accompanied by CID officers who went for him.It is not clear why Muthama was arrested.

The two politicians were grilled at the DCI headquarters before being taken to pangani police station were they were expected to spent the night.

Addressing the press on Tuesday evening at Pangani police station where he had gone to push for the release of Muthama,NASA leader Raila Odinga acused the government of deliberate efforts to frustrate his campaign team through arbitrary arrests of Muthama.”This is the move by government to harass my campaign teams which is very undemocratic.” said Odinga.

This comes just days after the National cohesion and integration commission NCIC Francis Kaparo said the commission was investigating 273 cases of incitement among various political leaders in the country.

He also said their investigation was also extended to those spreading hate on social media platforms.
