NASA says they will still win the second round of elections, down plays defection of Isaac Ruto to Jubilee will move them

BY NAMULONGO PETER,CORRESPONDENT,8TH SEPT 2017-The defection of former Bomet governor Isaac Rutto to join Jubilee will not  move us an inch .This is according to NASA leaders  who say despite the move they will still defeat Jubilee in a repeat slated for  October 17 .

Addressing   a rally in Machakos  Friday NASA leaders led by presidential candidate Raila Odinga  said  that anyone joining Jubilee at this time is “boarding the wrong vehicle”.

“We have seen others decamping to join Jubilee but I want to tell them that the Jubilee lorry is headed to Egypt. With Kalonzo Musyoka, Moses Wetang’ula, Musalia Mudavadi, Charity Ngilu and Mutula Kilonzo Jr, we will remain strong in NASA,” he said on Friday.

Rutto joined President Uhuru Kenyatta’s party early in the day, saying he “felt lonely” in NASA.

He was added as the coalition’s fifth principal in April and spearheaded its campaigns in the run up to August 8.

He lost the Bomet Governor seat to Jubilee’s Joyce Laboso, after which he retreated from public.

Raila claimed in the August 8 election, NASA won by more than 1.5 million votes but IEBC gave their victory to Uhuru.

“Here in Machakos for example, the IEBC deducted 150,000 votes that were cast in favour of Kalonzo and I. In Nairobi, the commission deducted about 200,000 votes and increased them in favour of Uhuru,” Raila added.

“We are saying that we are not going back to the contest unless there is a well cleanup in the commission. CEO Ezra Chiloba and his team must go, not again will we allow a hyena to keep guard of our goats,” he said.

Kalonzo dismissed Uhuru’s threat to Supreme Court judges as hot air, saying that Kenyans will first deal with him before he deals with the judges.

The Wiper leader also took the opportunity to applaud the MCAs for electing Florence Mwangangi as the Speaker.

He said that the move was the first step of kicking out a government of crooks in the county.
