BY KORIR JUMA,CORRESPONDENT,5TH SEPT 2017-President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto on Tuesday took their campaigns to Kiserian and Ongata Roingai in Kajiado county where they insisted that they are ready for the second round of the election. Addressing residents of Kiserian Uhuru and Ruto told off opposition leader Raila Odinga for his position that he will not proceed to the next poll with the current IEBC commissioners.
The two said just as they were ready before the August 8 elections this time they were even ready and despite the loss,Kenyatta said, they were confident of winning again.The p resident Kenyatta has defended his criticism of the Supreme Court and Chief Justice David Maraga for overturning his re-election, saying he has “a right” to do so.
Kenyatta reiterated his claim that the top court in the land ignored the will of the people to “please one man”, in reference to the petitioner Raila Odinga.
“I am angry because I was wronged. They wrongfully overturned my victory. We should tell the truth,” he said during a vote-hunt rally in Kiserian.
He said while he respected the court’s decision, he knows he “fairly” won the August 8 presidential poll by more 1.4 million votes.
The president also criticized NASA leader Raila Odinga for his statement that he will not accept to participate in the second round of elections slated for October 17 claiming that IEBC did not consult him and other stakeholders concerned.
Kenyatta says that was a flimsy reason adding that NASA wanted the time allocated by the electoral body to elapse so that they can seek a coalition government.He added that elections will go on as planned.
