BY KORIR JUMA,NAIROBI,16TH AUG 2017-An attempt to raid AfriCog offices by Police and Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) officers on Wednesday morning proofed futile after the officers were found to be lacking necessary court documents. The search warrant they had did not contain the name of Africog and also lacked a signature to Authenticate it as it is always the case. Human rights lawyer Maina Kiai asked why the tax authorities had to bring three van loads of police.
They say they have got a search warrant but the search warrant does not name AfriCOG. The order does not specify what they are coming to do,” he said.
AfricoG laywer Harun Ndumbi addressing journalists said the officials had fake court order that had no official heading with no signature. He says the affidavit was fake.

The NGOs Coordinating Board had accused AfriCOG of failing to register and operating illegal bank accounts. The notice to close down AfriCOG came a day after similar action was taken against one of the country’s oldest civil society group, Kenya Human Rights Commission (KHRC).
This comes even as acting interior CS Fred Matiangi ordered the crack down on the civil society organizations in the country to cease .
