BY KORIR JUMA,NAIROBI,9TH AUG 2017-The independent Electoral and boundaries commission chairman Wafula Chebukati has denied claims by the opposition NASA that the commission’s results transmission systems were hacked .Addressing the press on Wednesday at the Bomas Of Kenya Chebukati said since the beginning of the voting exercise Tuesday their system has been functioning as expected.
Chebukati who was accompanied by Chief executive officer Ezra Ciloba,Chebukati further said the results being transmitted are not official and can only be declared official after all forms 34As had been received from their returning officers from the constituencies.Even though he says the results as transmitted may not change much as they are similar as announced at the constituency level.
Chebukati also said party agents are free to check forms 34As presented to the commission up to date.
The chairman also announced that the commission will avail all the forms as regards to results being transmitted online as at 1pm Wednesday for easier access by the public.
He also said the commission still has time with six days to go before announcing presidential results.
Already the commission had received a total of 28000 forms 34As as on Wednesday morning .
Chebukati has urged Kenyans to remain patient as the commission does its duty of compiling results and announcing the same.
The Ceo Ezra Chiloba defended the kiems systems saying they have worked well.He also said party officials are welcome to work with IEBC officials at the bomas.
He also joined the chairman in assuring the nation that any claims of hacking will be investigated.
