BY EURIDICE NZIOKA,NAIROBI,31ST JULY 2017-The National Super Alliance NASA has joined the list of those asking the government to ensure enough security was accorded to all independent Electoral and boundaries commission IEBC following the mysterious murder on the commission’s ICT deputy director Chris Msando.
Msando’s body was found at the City Mortuary early Monday 31st July having disappeared last Friday.Addressing the press in Nairobi NASA co principal Musalia Mudavadi says Msando had complained that his life was in danger in relation to his work and yet no action was taken untill the officer met his untimely death.
Musalia further urged IEBC commissioners not to be intimidated by such happenings but rather be steadfast and ready to preside over a credible,transparent and free elections come August 8.
NASA’s call follows that of IEBC chair Wafula Chebukati who earlier on Monday asked the government to ensure all the staff working for the commission were secure a head of the elections.”we are urging the government to ensure all IEBC staff are sure so as to preside over the coming election, for there to be a peaceful elections we must be assured of security”he said.
elsewhere Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leaders have called for an immediate investigation into the murder of the electoral commission’s ICT manager, Chris Msando.
Led by chairman John Mbadi, Senator Moses Kajwang’ (Homa Bay), MP Peter Kaluma (Homa Bay Town) and MP Gladys Wanga (Homa Bay woman pep) claimed that those behind the murder are not ready for the August 8 elections.
Speaking at Sindo trading centre in Suba South, Mr Mbadi said the killing should no be taken lightly.
“Mr Msando’s murder is political. His murderers must be arrested if the government wants Kenyans to have faith in its institutions,” Mr Mbadi said.
Msando’s body bore injuries notable a broken hand and on the neck.His body has since been moved to lee funeral home.
