BY JOHN WERU,NAIROBI,29TH JULY 2017-It is a big blow independent Nairobi gubernatorial candidate, Miguna Miguna, after his running mate, Karen Wangenye, pulled out on Saturday 29th July just slightly over a week August 8 elections.
Ms Wangenye, while addressing the press , cited poor working relations with the independent candidate despite agreeing that Miguna’s ideas are what can transform the city.
“Unfortunately I’m here today to let the public know that I would like to resign from that position. Not that I do not believe in the cause; in fact, I very much believe his ideas are exactly what we need to implement to make Nairobi the green city in the sun once more,” she said.
She, however, defended her move saying that it was just a normal fallout that can happen to anyone.
“I would like to clarify that this fallout is not disloyalty, instead, its choosing to be transparent to the public.”
“I will not want to have the public deceived that the team they intend to vote in is a working team. For the team to work, the governor and his deputy need to be compatible and in agreement at all times and should be able to discuss where there are issues,” she added.
Ms Wangenye noted that she joined Miguna’s team because she believed in his ideologies and policies.
She, however, noted that she has nothing against Miguna but was not in a position to work with his methods of addressing issues.
