Gas leakage in Eastleigh contained

BY JOHN WERU,NAIROBI,6TH JULY 2017-The gas leakage incident reported  on Thursday 6th July at Master holdings Five storey building in  along Kiringoti street ,Mutatina junction Eastliegh in Nairobi has been contained.

The operation to identify the cylinder and isolate it from the rest was led by emergency rescue response  from Nairobi city county fire personnel assisted by police and National  Disaster Management Unit.

UPESINEWS.CO.KE has also established that residents  had to be evacuated from the building  within a spa of 10 minutes  to facilitate the operation.

Members of the public and the people living in the  neighborhood  have been advised to move to safer distance of up to at least 200 meters  to ensure the incident has been completely dealt with by authorities  in the energy sector.

The head of disaster management unit Pius Masaai has urged  members of the public to avoid the building until proper measures are put in place to completely eliminate the threat. ”We appeal to all members of the public and all businesses dealing with chemicals business to observe safety and security measures  including emergence preparedness plans”he said.
