Sakata ball returns back after five years under new name

BY SAMSON MBII,NAIROBI,29TH JUNE,2017-Sakata ball soccer tournament which  has been  on break for the last five years  has returned  after  its re-launch on Thursday 29th June  in Nairobi .

The launch has been made possible after  a partnership was signed between mobile phone service providers safaricom and  football Kenya federation at a cost of kshs 100 million . The annual football tournament which was struck off FKF, calendar in 2012, has been given a new name and now will be known as “Chapa Dimba” football tournament.

Winners of the first edition of the tournament will have an opportunity to visit Tottenham Hotspurs’ midfielder Victor Wanyama in London in 2018.

Wanyama will be the brand ambassador of the tournament, whose winner will also walk away with One million shillings on top of the London trip.

The first season of the competition will kick-off on 3rd of next month. This is the third time that the football tournament is changing name since it was inaugurated in 2009.

In the first two editions between 2010 and 2011, it was known as the ‘The Soccer Challenge’ then changed to “Sakata Ball” and now “Chapa Dimba.

Safaricom will also set aside kshs 10 million to go the purchase of prizes and others necessities.
