BY KORIR JUMA,NAIROBI,28TH JUNE,2017-The high court in Nairobi will on Monday next week deliver a ruling on a bribery case against Nation journalist Walter Menya.
Magistrate Martha Mutuku will rule on whether to allow police a period of two more weeks to enable them analyze items taken from the journalist .
The Director of Public Prosecutions had earlier asked the court to allow the police two more weeks to complete analysis of the items at the government chemist and cyber crime investigation.
Menya’s lawyer Nelson Havi however opposed the application and instead asked the court not to agree with the application as the items being analyzed were unlawfully taken from his client.
The DPP through State Counsel Daniel Karuri insisted the State is yet to make a decision whether to charge Menya.
The journalist who works with the Sunday Nation was arrested for allegedly soliciting a bribe for a story.
Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet had said Menya was arrested in the city centre when receiving a Sh50,000 bribe from a person who was not named .
