BY KORIR JUMA/CORRESPONDENT,BUSIA,26TH JUNE,2017– The kshs 1.2 Billion Sigiri Bridge in Budalangi constituency Busia county has collapsed mysteriously putting the contractor who was working on it in tight corner.The collapse puts hundreds of residents who depend on it for travel in difficult position.
Residents were shocked Monday Morning when they walk up only to find the only channel that makes travel easier over Nzoia river having collapsed.UPESINEWS.CO.KE has established that it’s collapse may have to do with weak materials used to join various portions of the same bridge.
Even as questions linger on who could be responsible the contractor who was working on it will have a lot of explanation to do. The Kenya national highway Authority KENHA officials and the ministry of roads have commenced investigations into the incident.
In the meantime efforts are ongoing to construct a temporary bridge to ensure residents go on with their normal activities in the area.
The incident occurs days after president Uhuru Kenyatta toured and inspected the project which has been brain child and the political dream of area member of parliament Ababu Namwmaba.
