BY NAMULONGO PETER,NAIROBI,25TH JUNE,2017-The independent Electoral and boundaries Commission has confirmed that the ballot papers printing has already begun at the Dubai based Al Ghurair firm.
Confirming the process Sunday 25th June ,IEBC chair Wafula Chebukati however said the ballot papers that are being printed are those of other political seats that are not in contention.He says the printing of presidential ballot papers are is yet to start.
This is due to the case challenging the same that was taken to court by the National Super Alliance NASA.NASA is challenging the ballot paper printing tender given to Al Ghurair firm.
They claim that the firm has a trong link to president Uhuru Kenyatta and other powerful personalities in Jubilee and theefore could not be trusted to print the ballot papers.The case will be heard before a three judge bench of the supreme court set up by chief justice David Maraga on 27th of this month.
Chebukati also said the commission will cooperate with the national police service to ensure the August 8 elections will be secure.
